Summer Peasant Top Style

Time to embrace the peasant top as a summer perennial favorite!  Whether short sleeve, 3/4, or long sleeve, I am coveting a white version in lightweight soft cotton for summer 2013.  It can be styled casually for a more boho vibe or pull off a more elegant look with a skirt or dressier pants for an office or night out look.

My Dad: The Most Special Man

On Father's Day, this post honors the man who has been my rock for my entire life.

My Dad holding my niece Olivia on the day she was born (2011)

As a little girl I saw this handsome man who was perfect in every way.  He had ALL the answers and instinctively knew the right thing to say at any moment.  As I got older I realized he may not have ALL the answers but he is still perfect to me.

He showed me...

... the importance of God and prayer
... the importance of good morals which I value to this day
... the importance of respect
... the importance of family
... the importance of saying "I love you"

I remember...

... the nights that he helped me with my math homework

... the late nights building models for my science fair projects

... the Friday evenings standing on the end of the grocery cart as he wheeled it through the store, after which he let me stay up late to watch The Rockford Files with him (hearing the theme song still chokes me up)

... the summer vacations in Wildwood /Cape May riding the ocean waves while testing how far we could wade out without hearing the lifeguard whistle

... the times that he left work early so that he could watch my afternoon track meets.  In his suit and tie, there he would be standing along the fence :)

... the times we would disagree over the definition of a word and pull out the dictionary (yes, the hardbound dictionary, not a cell phone or the computer) to see who got it right (usually ME - that's for you, dad)

This list could go on and on...

Support...
He has supported me in every way humanly possible, and when it comes to my blog, he has read every post from the beginning.  He has little interest in fashion related subjects, be he continues to follow and support my passion.  This post is for you, Dad, and I know you are reading it!

My Dad...

Mom (the #1 woman in my life) and Dad on their "51st" wedding anniversary (Dec. 26, 2011)
Me, Dad, Mom, brother Bob (Christmas 2012)
My dad's Barbershop Quartet...his passion for many years!

Happy Father's Day!  Love you, Dad!  xo

Trend to Try: Crop Tops and Blazers

Welcome back the 90's crop top!  How high do you dare try?  My favorite way to wear this trend this time around is with a blazer.  When paired with a blazer, it is a classy way to deliver a hint of skin.  Experiment with wearing the blazer open and buttoned.  Still not office recommended :)

Vivienne Tam S/S 2013
Balmain S/S 2013

Bloggers, Goodies and Gadgets

Following last week's Currently Coveting post, here is a look at a few new items currently capturing my interest.

Fresh Fashion Blogger Faces...
It's always fun to get inspiration from newly discovered fashion bloggers.  I came across these stylish ladies over the last week and felt compelled to share the inspiration...after all, isn't that what we DO :)

Caitlin from A Little Dash of Darling

Sylwia Dolores from Fashion Girl From Town

Deanne from  My Fash Avenue

Fitbit Flex Bangle Bracelet...
I am not a fitness nut in any way, but when I came across this new fitness bracelet, Fitbit Flex Wireless Activity & Sleep Wristband , I was intrigued.  It is a water resistant activity monitoring accessory that gives you a 24/7 health update by tracking exercise and sleep activities.  During the day, it tracks steps, distance, and calories burned. At night, it tracks your sleep cycle and wakes you with a vibration in the morning.  This is my favorite part  --> It shows how long you slept and the number of times you woke up to help you learn how to sleep more soundly.  It is available in a variety of colors and priced just under $100.

Perfumed Nail Polish...
CK One has introduced two limited edition nail polish shades, a metallic sky blue and an apple green, that have been infused with the CK One Summer scent (citrus and water lily).  The scent has been tested to last for up to 48 hours.  It is available at Ulta.  Interesting concept...may just swing by Ulta to check it out in person.  Would I be sitting at work sniffing my fingers???

Thoughts on this week's hot topic picks?! :)

Hope you are having a fashionably fabulous week!
