Outdoor Christmas Lighting

Outdoor Christmas Lighting

Here is a slightly different post today.  Looking at the outdoor Christmas lights throughout my neighborhood reminds me of a Christmas eve family tradition from when I was growing up.  After every Christmas eve mass, my family would drive through the neighborhood and view the outdoor Christmas lights and luminaires lined along the streets.  I was always struck by the beauty of it all.  My favorite Christmas lighting has always been the clear lighting.  It appears so sleek and classy, in my opinion.  Take a look at some lighting ideas for inspiration (and a couple of over-the-top "what were they thinking?" looks)...

Borderline...

"Over the top" (in my opinion)...

What lighting style do you prefer?  How do you light the outside of your home at Christmas?

  3. I love how enthusiastic people are with their Christmas lights and decorations, we don't have that much here so it is quite exciting for me to see. But I agree with you...those last few are OTT

  9. I like the first one, I am very understated in my decorating and, being English, we don't tend to decorate outside we just do inside but I wish we did do the outside as it looks so pretty!!

  12. Loveeee - this makes me want to go searching for Christmas lights. But I hate to say San Diego is very little in the spirit with our beachy thing going on! :) My parents never put up Christmas lights and I totally understand how it's an expense & hassle. However with the years of traveling & moving from apartment to apartment, I think once we do buy a house that we will probably go Christmas-crazy!!!! :)
