A Touch of Green

As St. Patrick's Day approaches, my colorful mind naturally goes into green mode...specifically the emerald and kelly green color range.  Whether it be gorgeous spring clothes and accessories, gemstone jewelry, home decor, St. Patrick's Day sweets/drinks, or scenery (spring vacation fever!), it is all about green.

So, here are my St. Patrick's Day loves (along with a little St. Patrick's Day trivia)...
Did you know that the color traditionally associated with St. Patrick's Day was not green, but BLUE?

Carolina Herrera runway collection Spring 2012.  It's all about the dress, but I am also loving the bangle bracelets.

Chocolate Grasshopper Cheesecake (Photo/Recipe:  Pillsbury  )...w/ fudge mint cookies and creme de menthe liqueur.

Minty Macaroons (Photo/Recipe:  Zoe Francois ).  This of-the-moment dessert trend is my fave!

Did you know that there are 34.7 million U.S. residents with Irish ancestry? This number is more than seven times the population of Ireland itself. (courtesy of history.com)

Did you know that while it is customary to wear green on St. Patrick's Day in the United States, the color green is actually considered unlucky in Ireland? Green is the color of faeries, which are believed to steal children who wear too much green.  (We still want our green!)

The beauty of Ireland

Did you know that St. Patrick used the Shamrock to explain the concept of the Holy Trinity? - that God is composed of three entities - the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit - yet each entity was part of the other just like the shamrock has three leaves but a single stem.
Shamrocks representing rebirth...the first leaf for hope, the second for faith, the third for love...and a fourth for luck :)
